Press Release

The AVALORA GROUP is dedicated to the adjustment of losses worldwide and comprises the following companies: AVALORA GLOBAL Loss Adjusters, Aviamar (adjustment of aviation, marine and land transport losses), Afire (analysis and investigation of fires), and Aseper (risk control and claims management), and last week at the Casino de Madrid organised some Technical Seminars for the Insurance market. The same brought together a large number of professionals from the world of insurance, private enterprise and from various other sectors all of whom were interested in the subjects set out in the various presentations and the round table discussions.

The first day of the seminars revolved around three matters with the maximum relevance for the insurance market:

Current marine (piracy and contingencies on the high seas) and aviation issues (volcanic ash, the Iberia-British Airways merger, ground services and handling companies,. ) which had participants from the leading companies in the country (Iberia, Mapfre, Aena, Ferrovial,).
Natural hazards and environmental liability which dealt with questions of how to handle the claims arising out of natural hazards from the point of view of an insurance company, the aspects that the new Environmental Responsibility Law focuses upon, how a major company such as Repsol analyses their environmental risks and how an engineering firm reinstates environmental damage.
The energy of the future: renewable or nuclear, when two opposed visions were set out, on the one hand, the former Director General of REE explained his vision as to the benefits of nuclear power, whilst on the other, the Business Relationship Director of Iberdrola Renovables explained his arguments regarding the use of renewable energy. Furthermore this was attended by an insurance company and a broker who set out how these new challenges being faced by the energy sector affected the insurance market.

The second day of the seminars revolved around the importance of the globalisation of Spanish companies.

Along these lines, Avalora Global presented to the insurance market how this had been embarked upon with their presence in 21 countries: in 3 of these, namely Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, through a network of their own offices, whilst in the remaining 18, by means of agreements with local firms.

Moreover two loss adjustments performed by Avalora Global were presented, one in Central America and the other in Israel, with the aim of showing the insurance market how losses are adjusted in a global setting. In addition to Avalora Global, the international expansion models of three Spanish multinationals ( (Mapfre Global Risks, Abengoa and Unipsa) were presented during the seminars, along with the globalisation and insuring of Spanish contractors (Dragados, Generali and AON)."
